Default Should students be allowed to use laptops in college classrooms?

Despite the fact that I am in the academic honors program of my college, I am prohibited from using a laptop in 5 of my 6 classes.(which includes both honors and standard classes).

It depends on the previous record of students using laptops in class, and it also depends on the course, personal record of using laptops on campus, etc.

A netbook would be less obtrusive.

Because having a laptop distracts you from the teacher.

Default Yes

I would say, yes, allow laptops. However, actually use them for schoolwork, not for surfing the internet.

Try to come to class prepared so you can pay more attention to the lecture than to copying down the PPT slides.

If you have any concerns, talk to your teachers about it.

Yes, I believe so. Students should be allowed to use laptops and the teaching should be more interactive.

At my university, some professors don't care, and others have a strict no-laptop policy. You'll never be criticized for taking notes with pen and paper.
Talk to your teacher as a suggestion.
